This photo reminds me of the album cover to the album "Test for Echo" by the Canadian band 'Rush' (who I love!).

Very nice picture, I think you captured the "spirit" of this site quite nicely.

Regards,
~Luke

Gorgeous. Wonderful colour. Reminds me of my son who now lives in Iqaluit. He's to send me some pictures. Soon, I hope. But, it's only been 2 weeks.

Thanks Carol, I am new to colour photography and I appreciate your help. I usually use an orange or yellow filter to boost contrast with my B+Ws, does a blue filter do this for colour???? Or should I be using a neutral grad? I recently purchased a Nikon D70, so I will be shooting a lot more colour in the future and I appreciate the advice. The only non B+W filters I have are a couple of circ polarizers.
By the way, this shot was taken in a park in the town of Collingwood, only about 2 hours north of Toronto. That would put us about the same latitude as Eugene Oregon. Not quite Alaska, but it's sure not southern California either!!!! Thanks again and have a great day.

Very interesting story behind this memorable image...

I would only suggest maybe a blue filter for the sky? or bumping up the contrast a touch..
Great shot!

That looks like its in Alaska!

Rebecca the F80 and the N80 are the same camera, and you will love yours!!!!!!! I have 2, one for B+W, the other for colour. What lenses do you have?
My first suggestion would be to invest in the MB16 battery grip, which converts the camera from CR123 to AA batteries (I use rechargeables)and gives you more camera to hold on to. I also use the custom functions to add a grid to my viewfinder. This is very helpful when composing.
Other than that I would say just to enjoy the camera. Read the manual, especially the part on focus and metering modes, and then go out and play!!!!!!
As you know I have a new D70, but the F80s get ALL my B+W work and still some colour as well.

This is really cool and well done. Composition is perfect... Its a really cool monument, deserves a well done photograph, and I think you've done just that. This could be hard to appropriately capture, but you've done a great job of getting everything in the frame. As Rebecca said, the exposure IS perfect... Everything is this is quite beautiful! Excellent job and a great normal change from the typical very dramatic or shorter DoF shots... This one deserves some more recognition!

I love this in color, Richard. The exposure is perfect! I see you have the F80. Isn't this the european version of the N80? I just bought an N80. Maybe you can give me some tips!
