About Hi UF Members
I used to have a very old (and very sickly) URT monitor. Coupled with the fact that my office has cream coloured curtains and it receives strong North sunlight, I had a lot of difficulty with my screen - particularly when it started going pink/cerise!
Any how, "Santa" brought me a brand-new 17" LCD monitor yesterday but now ... to my horror ... when looking at my previously PS processed images, I see that they are totally over-exposed and even "white". Obviously I am now wondering what YOU have been seeing when viewing my images - were they dreadfully over-exposed? If you do have the time, please check back in my portfolio and let me know. Most importantly, please tell me if THIS image's colour is OK(ish) on your screen (this one has been post-processed on my new LCD monitor). I do realise that no two monitors are set the same. We tried to calibrate my new monitor but as a LCD does not have phosfer, we were unable to do so.
Thank you in advance

Hey Linn, no, this looks beautiful and well balanced in exposition to me, as does your rest of the portfolio and you have some shots in there like the white kittens I commented on earlier, which are hard to expose. LCD I guess, though is still not a good choice for viewing pics that have been posted on the web. I have an LCD at home - my better half is opposed to have a big tube in the living room - and a tube monitor in office, and posted pics sometimes look horrible, full of compression artefacts on the LCD and good on the tube. ( so I am still working on my wifes opinion ;-)
There are callibration tools/programmes like "the spider" which also work on LCDs now. But so far I have shied away from this, since they are quite expensive. But there is a simple calibration tool coming with Photoshop I think Adobe Gamma which you will find on your control panel (probably)
best regards Jorg

Linn, the colour is deep and vivid and the single drop exquisite. Beautiful, as all your photos are. I have never seen any over-exposure or problem with the colour in any of your photos.

Thanks Mark! Actually, it was drizzling softly and I had to use an umbrella - so yes, very very overcast and grey sky!

This looks smashing on my monitor! Glorious blue! (just kidding...it's PURPLE!). I wonder the same thing about my own work sometimes, especially when someone comments that something looks dark, as I think my monitor shows things a little on the bright side. I can imagine your surprise and horror when you saw the difference...lol (not funny?)... Anyway, this beauty entices me into your portfolio just to see how lovely everything else looks! T.

Linn, I'm looking at your portfolio (as well as this picture) on a color calibrated LCD monitor and your work looks fine... nay, even great to me. I use a Pantone Color Plus system (you know, the spider thingie) to calibrate my monitor. The price has come down on these, I bought mine at "list price" at CompUSA when this model first came out for 99 USD.

Linn, in my monitor, it has a neutral/cold color cast. But judging from the light source that the photograph was taken in, it is about right. As far as brightness, it looks like it was made under a slightly overcast day. The high-value areas in the flower petals really pop out vividly. In light of all this, I think your new lcd monitor is a-okay.

very nice flower Linn.
nothing wrong here on my 19inch standard screen.
I just notice the noise in the background.
Maybe you need to calibrate your new screen.
You can download SGV viewer from the internet.
best regards Guido.

This one looks perfect to me, Mrs. C., and I've never had reason to question the colours in any of your previous pic's. Just one of life's little mysteries, I guess.
Best regards, Chris
