Ameed. It was taken at a Gemfest. He was working with some gems at the time. So you really do need to have good eyesight for that job, hence the unusual goggles on his head.

Larry. There was a crowd 6 deep between him and me. I spotted him and got ready and then luck was with me and I managed to get a shot of him. He was so entranced in his work, that he wasn't aware I was there. And the fact the main entrance was right behind me so if he had looked in my direction he would have copped an eyeful of sun.
But it worked.

Thanks Stu.I love working with lighting effects. And this one came up well for an "on the spot" job.

Very well done, Judi. My favorite portraits are of people concentrating on something such as this. This brings back memories for me. When I was a child I would marvel at how my father would take raw opal (Austrailian fire opal, no less) and cut it on a diamond saw, shape and polish it to dazzling brilliance and mount it into a beautiful setting. Although my dad is not yet as old as the man in this photo appears to be, I recognize the same passion for his work. Thanks so much. Kurt
