Thank you for your comments, and you are correct I was about to say something. This shot is actually the 2nd one he took. I set the camera up on a tripod, framed him in my place and then showed him which button to press. Even from my distance I could see the camera shake! I love him dearly but we decided that his hands were better with large equipment.
Your father has a good eye ... nicely framed ... excellent exposure and isolation is effective with DOF. Good casual pose for a family album shot ... ( looks like you're trying to tell you're father something about how to take the photograph ... mouth looks like your speaking ).
