A beautiful shot of a very nice moment
The lighting and the composition are great. My only suggestion is that this would look great cropping part of the top and the bottom. The focus would be more on the kid. Besides, quare images look very nice also
Have a look at my version, let me know if you like it(I've also got rid of some spots on the curtains)

This looks really good to me Susan, a nice dramatic lighting and mood is set, almost a sense of anticipation for what is coming.
Possibly cropping this to have include more of his legs and less of the window up top could help to ground him alittle bit more in the scene,
