the soul of a tree is a satyr, according to some beliefs ... so, if a tree is chopped, the satyr cannot get free and must be sit there for years and years, filling the place with sadness and grief. but on the other hand, as in this picture we can see, the souls of the death could incorporate into trees and dance with their satyres: the jewish cemetary in berlin-weissensee is a magical place, because it's left to its own genius loci without great disturbances.
