About A contortionist would have been proud of me! I tried every position in the book; took about 20 shots at this plant (Christmas Cactus) and I still didn't manage to get a decent shot :-( So please, tell me how to shoot this beautiful plant! (smile)

Hi Linn
I don't see anything wrong in this shot
The focus is great and the colours are gorgeous.
I know this plant. It's amazing when it is in bloem but because of the aboundance of flowers and the fact that the leaves (or stems? Don't know exactly how you call them)tend to hang down, it's not easy to photograph. The composition always turns out busy and even messy. Try to isolate one flower by using a sheet of paper (black or whaterver colour you like) under it and include also the green leaf. In this way, it's easier to shoot it from watever angle you like. Obviously you can do the same by isolating more than one flower to create a nice composition. The sheet of paper can be replaced by a piece of fabric.
Best regards
Emgy

Dear Debra,
I am so glad you also think it is a crazy plant! I had no idea where to start and as soon as I think I got a good focus, my eyes caught another angle. It was fun though and I will definitely be trying it again :-) I loved your recent submissions - my fav colour is pink pink pink! :-)

Linn, lovely picture, nice and sharp with good DOF. I agree with the suggestion of Lou, maybe, just a little bit more cropping

Well, Linn....I'm not sure how I would improve on this image. My only thought might be to try dodging the corners a little to force the eye to the main flower, but I'm not sure this would be an improvement. Lou
