About I know there is not much contrast in my photo, but i decided as this was my first role of Black and White film and my first attempt at doing something i love I should enter a photograph of myself that i am quite proud of. Well i think it is neat anyways. Thankyou for making the time to even look.

mi piace molto il tuo modo di fotografare, trovi con grande naturalezza il taglio pił descrittivo.
non ti nascondo che sei anche una bellissima ragazza....continua a guardare il mondo attraverso il tuo obbiettivo, i risultati verranno

Wonderful self portrait. I love the camera obscuring your face, thee ole element of mystery.I think your contrast and tones are nice and soft, perfect for this portrait. I have to say I like this image as is, with no cropping on the top. That reflection on the top is quite interesting and sort of self frames the portrait. Thanks for the wonderful comment on "Into", welcome. Cheers, Dustin.

I'm more of a hidden self-portrait kinda guy, which is why I like this so much.
Ya, maybe a crop would help, but, this way we see more of the creator's vision.
The only problem I see is that it could use a little spotting.
I also find it interesting that the Flash is there just for cover. KOOL!

Keep shooting B&W and try the rest of the Delta's you'll like them!
My favorite is 3200 pushed to 12,500 and 25,000.

Welcome to Usefilm!

It's not terribly original, but well done, I think. I do find the top bit quite distracting, though. Other than that it's a well executed photo.

I don't think you have a problem in contrast here, I really like all those greys you get. With more contrast, you would miss out some details, I think.
I do agree with Teunis, about croping some of the top...
Keep shooting B&W, because this is great.
Congrats

Diane, make sure it isn't your only venture into black and white. This is an excellent photo, rich in contrast and detail. Better than neat - full 7 from me ;-)

Hi Diana, welcome to Usefilm. This is a nice first upload you have here. Members' selfportraits are a genre I particularly enjoy viewing (even though my personal preference lies with compositions where the photographer's face can be clearly seen). I like the way you're holding the camera to your face - the analogy between the lens and the eye is quite straightforward, but it is the round sensor on the flash and the white symbols immediately to the left of that sensor that complete the idea for me by acting as the second 'eye'.

You say that there's not much contrast. Personally I don't really see a reason why more contrast would be desirable in this photo. Heavier blacks would compromise what shadow detail there is, and brighter whites would make the highlights at the top shine out even more, which would not be a good thing.

What I don't quite understand is the lack of sharpness. With a 35mm length and the shutter speed and aperture you quote, I'd expect almost everything to be sharp. So, is it a scanning problem, is it bad focusing, or is the soft look intentional?

The Oly OMG has to be one of my favourite cameras, its right up there with the Pentax WTF.
