I've been looking at the D70 as a possible addition to my Nikon kit, finally taking on the digital format. Your 4th shot out of the box has confirmed it for me! Beautiful image, well done!

Thanks for your generous comments Kim, and for the advice on using a flshlight. Good idea for sure.
The DOF here is not deep enough, I know. This is frame no 4 with my new D70. The box was still on the table, and I shot handheld. Also, the MicroNikkor 60 mm is a great piece of lens, but it has a very shallow DOF. I will have to get used it, but I'm pretty excited to have it turned into a 90 mm with the D70.

Ahh, looking at this makes me get ready for spring! The colours are fabulous and bright! The depth of field could have been a bit deeper though, to pull the petals of the sunflower into complete focus.

As well, a trick that I learned for lighting flowers, it can be helpful to have a flashlight around to brighten up the middle of flowers when they are backlit quite a bit. It seems to work better with a slower shutter speed (1/15 - seconds) but I would think it would still add some added light in the middle for 1 /125. T

The framing is very nice... there's a nice amount of yellow holding my attention in the frame, and I love the out of focus blues, greens and purples on the left side. Really powerful colour combonations!

Okay, I'm off to plant some sunflowers!

Beautiful Christian, the off center composition with the great backlighting make this a wonderful picture. Great detail. Don.

Absolutely beautiful, A blossom backlit. Aptly titled. George Harrison would be proud.
