This image is a metaphor of the new, globalized personal and social identity which in Amsterdam ( just like in Berlin ,London and few other European cities) was emerging already in the 1990ies with all its pros and contra. Individuals are no longer rooted somewhere ,they often change job, love partner, place to live ecc. and their identity is a do-it yourself stuff including a dymnamic, evolving window through which our identity become multiple and "on target" to be attractive for different kinds of people. Tradition and community become one possible way to construct identity but they are no longer ?the way?. The safest and more familiar home for these people is their luggage in which they should have planned, organized and included everything to manage the high opportunities and risks of globalization and their own multiple identities and windows.
you have a good eye for shots, i must admit i have to spend some time looking at them to see what your getting at, very interesting ideas, and the more i look, the more i like...good job, paul:)
seeing as your a colour fan, ive just thrown some colour film through my eos30, keep a look out on my portfolio if your interested.....
I would entitle it Zelig after a movie by Woody Allen; for the shot I would prefer to see it less tilted may be not framed at all, but it is your choice
