Hi Greg...*smile*... we never stop learning in photography...and the best way to learn is by experimenting and utilizing the ideas that other experienced photographers are willing to pass along to us. *smile*
Sometimes what is meaningful to us in a photograph looses its meaning to the viewer...therefore they look at our image breifly and move on. I have holiday images that have so much meaning to me, but to anyone else they would have no meaning at all because they dont have my memories.
I would have liked to see Michelles face so I could see her experssion and maybe see what she was feeling at the moment the image was taken. You know what Michelle looks like and what she was feeling at that moment...for the viewer not to see this...the picture has no meaning to the viewer...at least thats how I felt when I looked at the image...I cant speak for anyone else. *smile* Always experiment with angle of view and lighting... that is the only way you are going to learn what works best.
Keep posting Greg. I must mention.... Gary and Artie are much more knowledgeable than I, so experiment with any suggestions you get from them, I have learnd much from them in the short time that I have known them *smile*...take care...Maggie

Oh I nearly forgot! You asked how long I have been involved in photography?
Not that long does it show?
But I do develop and print myself (again not for long still very much learning)
Bye

Thanks for all your comments!
Its nice that I can get feedback so quickly on these images. Hopefully I will improve too?
Margaret, Hello! You mention trying to use some fill in flash? This is something I have always avoided, not to sure why? But perhaps there is no harm in me experimenting?
the light on Michelles face is a good point. At the time I could see it was dark but did not think it would turn out that dark. But after looking at the picture I think the almost hidden in shadows face works. Most people who see this picture know nothing of this girl, and I want you to realise that when you look at this picture.

Even though it was the lights that inspired you to take this photograph Greg...Michelle is the main subject. The composition is ok but there needs to be more detail in Michelles face to keep the viewer looking at this image. Try this again using a little fill flash. Would like to know more about you other than your dream of taking pictures *smile* ... how long have you been involved in photography .. do you dev and print your images yourself? take care...*smile*....
