I prefer this one over the previous... the rich colour pulled me in and the sharpness keeps me looking at all the detail. I don't mind that the fog isn't as well defined... it's there, and it's a nice background for the tree and snow. As John said, this is magical!

Yes Mike, pretty barbarian cold. But, as cold as it was, I can say that this is not what I remember from that hike. All the mist was from a freezing river and I had a superb time shooting in these conditions. Just for your info, here is the forecast for Montreal... in French and Celsius.

Of the 2, I like this one better. I think the rich colors do it for me. -28C? That's a little chilly even for Canada eh?

Thank you all for your appreciation. I see that the sharpness is not an issue-- at this resolution, because in the original it's pretty obvious. And I'm not proud about it : shot w/o tripod. To my credit is the fact that this was taken about 2km off-road at a temperature of -28 C.
John, I'm flattered (I hesitate on this word, my english here is meager). Do you remember your first comments for me here ? I Ihink they were on my picture "Three blocks of ice left". I'm not sure if it's still onnline. I think that in the past year, I've learned to deliver better pictures, and I will tell you that along these months, you have been a vibrant source of inspiration through your posts and comments.

It may be easier to tell from the pre-posted image about the sharpness. Both look similar to me. My preference between the two is this one. While the other looks more natural, this one has more feeling and what a great feeling it is. Pure magic. Who could not love winter, looking at this image? In adition to the exposure, I also like the framing and composition on this one better. Great photo Chrisitan. Really great!

Lighting is beautiful. I love the way the light strikes the snow on the lower right. Great work. Don.

This one is great as well. If I have to choose, I prefer the earlier one, as the snow looks more white there and as you can see a bit more of the beautiful snow covered trees in the background.
