Pictures were taken in Kalighat - hospital for dying people, run by Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa was founder of this congregation, canonized in 2003 by John Paul II) in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. Old and sick people are taken everyday from slums, suburbs of Calcutta and railway stations by volunteers - mainly young boys and girls from Europe, Japan and States, who spend months doing this. They take care of the patients, feed them, wash - do everything. Most of the Indians in Kalighat are not Christian. The name of Kalighat comes from the famous temple of Kali, which is nearby.
