First the bad: Bad scan, not enough contrast, and bad crop.

The good: These can all be fixed relatively easily. Either with Photoshop or at the printer's.

The subject and idea are wonderful. I'd keep trying this with other outfits and lenses. The basket handle is a little distracting. Now, if it were filled with candy, that would be something else.

Jake, I had to comment on this one because I have a daughter called Jenny who looks about the same age as this little girl.
The composition is good, and I like the way you have her reflection looking into the lens.
The tone works well also.

Jake, I agree with Asha. Wonderful little subject! Too bad for the dust particles on her actual face and the soft focus. I also think cropping to just above the top of her head would enhance the picture. But for the little flaws, this is a great picture!

Oooops! Jake, I do beg your pardon!!!! My brain's not fully functional today. I didn't mean to call you Jeff. Sorry :-)

Jeff, she's a gorgeous model!!! What a very pretty girl and a fabulous idea. The sepia works really well. But (and isn't there always a "but"), IMHO this image could have been a little more closely cropped. There seems to be a bit too much superfluous background. Maybe crop the image a little lower down (closer to her head in the reflection)? I (personal opinion) would have liked the reflection of her to be a bit sharper too. There are also a few scratches (on your lens?) that can easily be PS'd out. I love what you were trying to achieve and do appreciate that it was a quick shot (as photos of children often have to be!). Could you take another shot of her playing dress-ups maybe (since Halloween's over) in front of the mirror?
