Oben, "Gyros" tastes differently to a Doner Kebab. Better... Worse... At the end of the day, it's about how hungry one really is... I have had many Souvlakia and Doner Kebabs in my life... Part of the reason, I need to diet these days.... hehehe By the way, "Gyros" also means turning in Greek. The Hellenic culture has undoubtedly given much to the world of science, arts, philosophy, mathematics, medicine etc. In fact, it's contribution in most disciplines has been tremendous. If you are correct in saying that "Gyros" was invented by Turks, congratulations! Greeks always believed in cultures learning from one and other. And if Greeks learned about Gyros from the rich culture of Turkey, we thank you for sharing :-)
This is the most famous roasted meat in the world invented by the Turks and called "Doner Kebab" (literally -:the roast meat that turns) in one of its alter egos- Gyros (in Australia - the Greek community names it Yeeros)... looks delicious.
It's wonderful to see cultures learning from each other :)
