It's not often that someone dares to use a 20mm to do a moonscape. ;) I can see how anyone could assume this was a planet.

The blue that night was fantastic. I was shooting my 20-35 lens at 20mm. There is a name for sky conditions like this, but I don't know it. It's getting dark, but to the west, the brightness lingers well after the sunsets. Thank you Stan. ...........oh, and I do have this one in a large matted frame. I love it.

This a wonderful POV and great film shot. The color graduations of the blue across the image are great. The stars and tree make a good visual treat, a real wall hanger to my eye. be well, Stan

Actually Randy I'm pretty good at astronomy and have been a fan ever since I glimpsed Saturn's rings through a cheap 70mm refractor. Now - I have an 8" SC and a 5" Mak, both very under-used currently. I really want to start taking astro photos but those CCD's are pretty costly. I haven't looked in any depth into using my dSLR.
As to the Moon, yah - to my shame I thought it was a bloomed planet haha!
Regards,
Anthony

Yup, the sword too. I don't recall Jupiter tho. Anthony, If that's Jupiter to the lower right of the moon................................. you scare me with your astronomical knowledge of 1994. If you thought the moon was Jupiter............... well then, it's because of the 20mm lens. ;) Lemme know your astronomy knowledge level so I don't embarrass myself when naming my astro photos. Heck, I can even mess up chicken soup from a can ;)

Sajjad, give me your e-mail address if you want and I may be able to assist you with IrfanView. I must tell you tho, I am no professional at these photo imaging programs, but I know that I can assist you at least a little bit. rlibner@hotmail.com

Let's say that it's not where I'd like to have had it done, but they do pretty darn good work. Plenty good enough for what I need here for sure. Image size is put on the disk at 1818 by 1228. I have these done in a one hour lab at a chain store called Fred Meyers. Not sure where you live, but the chain is in the northwest U. S. and located mostly in Oregon I believe. They use an automated FUJI machine if that helps any. If you find a person in the photo department that you reaalllly trust handling your slides, I think you would be very happy with the conversions they do using the FUJI machine. The price was very nice also. Many of these....... I mean, most all of these slides are my 'babies' and are irreplaceable, so I was quite nervous about letting a minimum wage photo jockey handle them. I marked the slide boxes "please handle with extreme care" They did and I was extremely happy with how they came out. The 'photo jocky' was a very demeaning term once I learned how well the man did his job. He earned my total respect. He also liked my images. I think he was used to seeing birthday images and out of focus pet photos. ;) Anyway, If you don't live near a Fred Meyers, look for a place with a state of the art FUJI machine and I think it will do you good, as it did me. Two thumbs up. OK, now that said...... I'd like at least twice those image dimensions if I was going to get serious about these images. Not being in the photography business, and being very unknowledgeable about the potential of digital recording and printing, I'd have to find a professional lab to assist me if I made these into digital prints as a profession. I know I have some stuff that is fairly good, but mine are just given away as gifts for friends and family.
I went way, way, beyond your question as I ramble a lot. Did you notice? ;) I hope the info I gave helped you a little bit.
Thank you for looking in.

Randy, wonderful composition, and what a collection of blues, most of which are reflected in the tree. This is a reminder of what a great film Kodachrome is/was.
Thanks for sharing, Richard

...and I do believe you have caught a tiny bit of Orion's sword/nebula too Randy! I'm guessing that planet was Jupiter?
Nice work!

Thank you Saad. I knew the evening that I took this image that it might be a good one. All my photos are from film, so I had to wait a week to find out the results of my effort. Yes, I was happy seeing the results.

Thank you Pallab. I tried to re take this image one month later so the moon was still near the same location. I got good blues, but the photos did not come out as well in my composition. First try is always best I guess.

There are some free software programs that you can download that will allow you to modify your photos. Irfanview is probably the easiest to use and I have been using it for many years. You can lighten darken an image, add or reduce contrast and change color tones with it... plus resizing and a lot more. I think it would be a good one for you to try out. You modify an image and save it in a new file or along side the original image. http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3000-2192_4-10021962.html?tag=mncol
I am still learning how to modify photos. I am certainly no professional at this. I just keep trying until the image looks best. I don't usually like to modify images very much because you can easily make them look worse. I like the images to look natural. Download the IrfanView program and try it out. I think it will help. Hope this helps.

Thank you Sajjad. I love the sky photos a lot, especially late in the day like this one. The colors are always more intense if it's a clear night. I added a comment to you, take a look.
