Thanks for the nice comments, guys! I think you might be interpreting the picture as computer-generated, though, which it isn't! It's a picture I made of a large piece of amethyst (a purple mineral) that my wife gave me. I did crop the original picture a bit, and post-clarified and post-sharpened it quite drastically to make the material become optimally visible, but nothing else.
