Gayle: As it happens there are many types of Quail . . . at least 10 subspecies of this button quail. I'm relatively certain you didn't eat these eggs because it would take a LOT of them to fill a tablespoon! :) Game quail, bobwhites and the like, are what you likely are referring too. Now . . . I'm thinking of making the world's smallest hard boiled egg . . . Ooooh, Ooooh . . . perhaps a teensy deviled egg?
GYC spent his time in Michigan and we're gonna be updating his scrapbook here . . . he's off to Jan's on Monday! Maybe I should get him his own UF account?? Hmmmmmmm.

am impressed that it is only 2 inches in height!...i recall eating quail egg sandwiches my Aunt cooked for us as a child...my parents had to temporarily take care of peacocks, pheasants and quail in our backyard for my grandmother...i named the pheasant "meanie" because he pecked my fingers...LOL...good shot and i get why you think it belongs in the new project...(laughs to self)
on another note, where is Gene bear and perhaps you could leave links to see photos where he has been thus far....saw some of the first ones by Jessie, but not a clue as to where he has been hangin' since.....peace,gayle

Hi Avi!
I have a natural affinity for wildlife (animal) shots . . . but still remain quite the dilletente . . . good at many things but master of none!! :)
I still have a child-like sense of wonder when it comes to the world around me . . . I hope it never goes away!

Doyle -- Fascinating -- Thanks for the excellent background information. I especially am impressed by their clean-up and cross breed mothering skills. Excellent portrait of this unusual bird. At least unusual to me! --Best regards, Jan

Which came first, the Chinese Painted Quail or the egg? No, it doesn't quite sound the same...
Maybe pushing it a bit for the project :) but I can't fault the photo. Oh wait a minute, maybe I can! I'm not sure, but it seems that the sharpest area is around the closer leg, rather than the eye. This perhaps pulls the attention away from the head. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, as this way the viewer automatically looks at the whole bird.
Overall, great DOF against the background, and no burnt out areas in the white feathers.
Lots of effort in the frame - your own craftsmanship or off the shelf?
AJ

Excellent closeup of this bird, Doyle, and a very interesting about to give us some background for the shot. I never would have realized how small, and therefore difficult the shot, otherwise. Well done! Dave.

Good thing this guy is small cause it would be very hard for h/she to hide with the white body and bright orange colored feet... Very interesting 'about' as I had never heard about these birds before at all... Also a very well composed image-- hard to imagine such a very SMALL size !!!! Excellent exposure, clarity , details, and textures as usual :))
Best wishes, Michele~
