Great close-up. Love the ant taking his break and getting a sip of the water.
Love the color of the flower - especially the way it appears in the upper left corner.

LOL...fantastic response Doyle, exactly what I expected! YOUR brilliance...MY ability to spot genius...too good!
BSTB...short cut to "BS...this bites"...add that to the list. Sure would cut down comment time if(when?) either of us post a piece of $#@%!
Later...Robin
ps...me thinks I spot an acknowledgement (from you) of MY GENIUS in the comment following your reply to me....hmmmm (taking a flower inside to avoid that pesky ocean breeze)

Hmmmmm . . . Well John . . . Thanks for the Critique. LoL.

Uh huh. Well, that being said . . . you should be aware that my rose "John" eats fertilizer!
BWA HAHAHAHAAA!
Congrats on the Nikon . . . I'm certain you'll be happy and doing great with it in no time. I'll check out you new images as soon as I can!! I can HARDLY wait! :)

Thanks so very much Emgy!! You have expressed wonderfully what I was attempting visually. An emotive response of beauty and while it was "soft-focused" . . . blurry seems harsh . . . The light and streaks of color seemed to convey something more to me than the sharply composed image might have. This is NOT to imply it was intentional . . . sometimes art (like science) can be fortuitous. But having seen the image was not what I had composed for . . . instead of discarding it . . . it seemed to carry the intent of the story for which it was composed even better than the idea I had. Thanks very much for the support and encouragement.

Thanks Shirley . . . but for the brilliant colors and light this would have never seem a Jpeg conversion . . . but I liked the idea and composed for the story . . . and stubborn mule-like person that I can be at times . . . I stuck with it - blur or no blur!! Appreciate the comment though!

LoL! Robin you're ok (no matter what THEY say)!! Thanks so much for noticing my Armani t-shirt and shorts . . . so many wouldn't . . . particularly after feeding the chicken!!!
I note that the "rays of color" are simply beautiful . . . in your eyes. Thanks.
I note the story conveys Peace and tranquility. Thanks.
But blurry? Moi?? ( * sip * )
Ok . . . Ok . . . I knew it was "soft" (blurry seems harsh) . . . but really I was trying to be cutting edge and evocative. Emotive. Hmmmmm . . . I wonder if it would work for non-experienced types . . . not skilled photogs, but patrons of the "Arts" (Ok, I'm using the term loosely)? Either that or the fricken' ocean breeze MOVED the %#$^%&$ plant stalk! LoL! And stubborn mule that I am . . . I still liked the plan!! LoL! And I still liked the streaks of color too! ;)
And ooooooohhhh . . yeah . . . I would DEFINITELY have done the same for you!! ;) (Perhaps I have already)? But that's what makes this e-friendship work......honesty . . . you recognize MY brilliance . . . I recognize YOUR ability to spot GENIUS!!
. . . and we both feel free to say "BS . . . this bites" from time to time!
Stay cool my friend,
Warmest Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~ The King of Cool

I just love your imagination my dear Doyle and I agree that just maybe, maybe there is the odd shirker that strays away from his work:):) A wonderful perspective for this excellent floral macro my friend. OK Doyle, I'm really struggling now. I went down the local shops and handed over a load of dosh for a new machine that:
- needs a truck to carry it around - refuses to talk if I'm closer than 100 metres - will only zoom in 10 percent - needs another year's salary spent on lenses - has fewer built in facilities than my old pile of s%@T - etc etc etc
(It's got a sticker on it that says it's a Nikon D70S. But it's got another sticker that says it's made in China - have I been a silly Billy? No, ignore this comment, it's gratuitous facetiousness...)
I mean, did you see my recent ant macro? That guy looked massive on the screen and was perfectly in focus! And he was captured with a (professionally sneered at) prosumer heep of junk. (NB. that was supposed to be the relevant bit...)
HELP!!! I need some encouragement! (And some words of wisdom that convince me that I haven't just stuck a load of beer tickets down the pan...)
OK, back to the critique. Erm...
All the best my friend, John
PS. I really appreciate you naming a rose after me.

What's wrong with blurry images? I believe that they can be very artistic and beautiful. They can stir your emotions, can take you for a moment on a trip into a dream world, can fascinate you, intrigue you, and be as captivating as other images obtained following all photography rules. Besides, they are are original captures of moments which for one reason or other, like pics shot with a perfect focus, attracted your attention and impressed you. Doyle, I like your story of the ant on a solitary trip and I think this photo is awfully beautiful as it is. It's well composed and has some gorgeous colour and light. Very nice nature abstratisme. Well done!!!! Regards - Emgy

Hey Doyle:
Yes, this time of year is perfect to break out that macro lens and explore the world of the extemely small.
I like this little documentary, and the lighting, but there's a bit of motion blur.

It IS a CC image right? You know I really don't like to be in the "corner"...especially when a certain individual is banging his head... Everytning I say from here is meant in the nicest possible way...and, after all, you would do the same for me. Doyle, it's blurry dammit...but the "rays" of color streaking through the background are simply beautiful! And the story does convey Peace and Tranquility! Perhaps a little better focus on the ant would stop me from feeling like I need to clean my glasses (again, said in the nicest, most gentle way)! Did I mention you look smashing this afternoon?
Take care...Robin ;)
