Good thing I read this and that you are aware of the problem. Which software are you using for manipulation? No sense in us telling you do a levels adjustment if your software doesn`t support it. Hope you get a Great deal on your new camera, what are leaning to a good point and shoot or a dslr? The manipulation below was done with PICASSO 2 which is a freeware,[only to boost it up]it`s not the best but it also catalogs your images on your computer including external drives which I do need because my images are all over the place.I am not very organize I NEED HELP!!!

Michele:
Batteries cannot cause a degradation of the image. Something else is to blame. Perhaps too much processing . . . poor light . . . incorrect settings . . . but not batteries. You either do or do not have power. No other effect from batteries can be expected. I'd check settings first . . . clean the lens . . . ;)
The rechargeable batteries DO need ocassional replacement still . . . you're quite right about that.
New camera? Now THAT'S exciting.
Best Wishes for a Happy New Year! Doyle I <~~~~~

Hi Doyle, Thank you for such a great critique, as usual... I always appreciate it. These shoty old buildings are so un-level I might be a bit used to it now.. It didn't give me too much of a problem this time around altho normally the builings this age, drive me crazy. I've been trying to figure out why my recent images are soooo faded looking ? I use re-chargeable batteries, and I'm only getting maybe 20 or so images now when I used to get over 100 on the same batteries. Plus the images are this weak quality. Still I'm thinking it's the batteries. I've had these about a year... but I think they still eventually die ---- RIGHT ?
But I am totally ready for the new camera. I just have to find one now, and take a trip to Salem where there are more stores. I am gearing for the middle of Jan. for this ... Maybe earlier. I'm pretty excited !!
Happy New Year , Michele~

Hi John, I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with the camera .... it's eating batteries too.. I think it's truely about dead. I took a bunch of pictures this morning because it was a beautiufl day and before I could finish I had dead batteries again. I'm thinking that when my batteries are low I get the poor quality kinda faded and prone to spots, etc. I will still post a few of the images.. but plan to get into my savings and get me a real camera asap. Thanks for bearing with me and my poor quality images .. I have to take pictures, it's my thing. Plus I will need help with a new camera !
Best Wishes, Michele~

Hi Pablo thank You for your comment. I think I do have some problems with this old camera.. I am blaming the camera anyway for the 'grain' and 'noise' in this shot .. A new camera is on the way ...very soon I hope. Best wishes, Michele~

Quality not withstanding . . . (there IS a bit of grain) - I love how you captured a feel for this one. Great street shot. And, I know this had to be challenging to level . . . I looked first at the siding upstairs and immediately detected a moderate tilt. But on correcting I could see it was deceptive since the angle of the shot is such that one should not level on the siding. Doing that will immediately pull the street lines off level due to depth perception and angle. THAT is far more distracting and the subject area here is lower . . . so the leveling choice was perfect. Your composition here is (IMO) very well done . . . . multiple layers and enough to peak the interest of the viewer - a great variety in the color, interest levels and details abound. On the Not so - tech - side . . . I have to agree with many of the others here . . . this really does give some atmosphere! Nice work.
Best Wishes for a Happy New Year! Doyle I <~~~~~

Yea! Smoked fishes are great, in that subject the shot could be a bit wider or even two photos to collage so all the shot could be into the frame, also the quality of the image Michele isn't so good, I know that the sharp tool of the site is not good, even soft ruin our photos...

Hope they don't get the bait and the food mixed up! Nice atmosphere to this shot and it reminds me of so many "crab pots" I have been to in my lifetime. These places generally have outstanding seafood - can almost smell and taste it from looking at the picture. --Best to you, Jan
