I really like this image in all of its incarnations. You have captured the rose in a way that we can see it for what it is, but the textures you have captured and the position of the rose in the frame also give it an almost abstract, maybe more mysterious is a better description, of the rose. It reminds me of a woman or child swaddled in soft cotton, just beginning to be unwrapped. I agree with you that the color is a better option in this case. It's a lovely shot. andy

Hi Greg, we had the same idea in the same time about the rose in B&W. As to the focus it is really too weak in the back side of the rose. My wish was to have a flower delicate and tender but the elegance needs the neatess. I would avoid that softness if I could repeat the shot. Thanks very much Greg for your interest, comment and advices. I am very glad for that. Take care.

It is a beautiful shot, Giuseppe. I think the total absence of the shadow on the front petal(below of the petal on the right of the screen)or just fading it away would have made this photo perfect. However it is a very nice rose and work.

HI Giuseppe, I don't think b+w would do much for this shot. I find white and red to be the hardest to capture true texture. You have succeeded well here. The focus is a bit off on my screen. Maybe you wanted that? or- il diavolo vento?? How about that for timeing. You posted right after I did. Auguri! greg
