About Number 4 in a series I took of beach pebbles on a small, rocky beach close to home. The beach is known for its perfectly round or elipsoidal pebbles. We had a flood a month before this was taken, which took almost the whole beach away. A month later about 60% of the beach was restored again - by the tides!

Taken late afternoon just before sunset. ISO set at 640 to be able to shoot free-hand. All pictures were taken without interference (no re-arangement!). All photos cropped (slightly)for composition to the same size. This was fun since I had to run in and out the surf to catch the pebbles while wet. Minimal adjustments with PS.

Interesting to study the contrasting smooth curving shapes with the rough and uneven (yes, glacier like) shape, and marvel about mother nature. It has almost an outer space kind of feel to it, as if the planets are converging. Very nice light and details, that Nikon handles that high ISO well, the clarity is great. Makes a wonderful abstract Joggie...:)Lin

~~GRIN~~ Joggie... Just for a moment... and it was just a moment, I thought, when looking at the thumbnail, that you had dropped your lunchtime snack whilst running in and out between the waves...

Then commonsense pervaded and I realised another beautiful, colourful pebble...

The orange does over power just a tad... Would it be possible to crop, so that the width of the orange stayed the same at the bottom of frame, but the top more to not quite top right hand corner???... However on the other hand it looks right... If that doesn't sound too strange ???...

Totally enjoying and thanking you for the visuals you present...

Onie... :)

Hand Held? - Running in and out of surf ?. Well done - The top left looks like Ice from a Glacier.
Sharness is excellent and contrast of colours are interesting. I am abivalent about the small pebble "crushed" between the two larger - almost a distraction - but I take your point that there was no interference by you.

Thanks Markus - valid point you raised, I was so occupied to place the little sandgrain on the bottom left third that the orange just took over. I thought the strength of colour contrast and the lines could pull it through. A tighter crop on the right may improve it. Regards and tahnks for the input.

A strong abstract composition, Joggie. Maybe the orange area just a little bit too dominant.
Regards, Markus
