Hardwar is a well known holy place in Indian History. It is considered one of the seven holy places of the Hindus. It is world widely known for Kumbhmela which took place in every 12 years. Situated 214 km northeast of Delhi, 42 km away from Dehradun district it is well connected with roads and railways. Hardwar /Haridwar means the Lord Vishnus(Hari) Ghat. The main attraction of the city is Har-Ki-Pauri Ghat. The meaning of Har-Ki-Pauri the stairs of heven. The ghat is located on a canal diverted from the main Ganga that flows a km further. It is a scared ghat to Hindus and hundreds of people take bath every day to wash out their sins into the holy water of Maa Ganga. It is one of the favourite place of all Hindu devotees.
