Thanks Rina, This particular area is like a dream come true for ocean lovers. Sandy Neck Beach is so clean and un-cluttered. There are miles of beautiful protected dunes up from the beach that are wonderfully isolated. I would love to live in this general area. I'll end up posting a couple more from this place soon. Andre

Yup, the ocean looks pretty darn tranquil. Lovely sky colour and definition in the clouds too. This is typically a scene that I would consider peaceful/tranquil. Great job Andre, it's not easy to capture the moment well, but you've nailed it imo. Could be I'm biased coz I love the sea so much :)

Thanks Andrzej, Those clouds do look threatening, as they did all around us that night. But it never did rain. Red sky at night, sailors delight" Andre

I really like the different layers present in this photo Andre - the clouds and sky, as well as the foreground water. Great array of textures and colors which combine different atmospheres into one image.

Nice pinky horizons, yes this is mid-atlantic special. Nice capture of the moment that everything is still and calm but I would not trust it too much. Cheers, NJ

Despite the threat from those powerful and moody looking clouds the peace and tranquility gets drawn from the calmness of the sea and the promise from that beautiful red sky. Well done to you my dear Andre, a wonderful capture. My very best wishes to you as always......Ray:)

Thanks Dave, I had a lot of choice from this little shoot. As I said to Kes, the clouds and sky were putting on a show in every direction that night. It's hard to take any credit for it, when that happens. Andre

Thanks Alicia, I agree. As the sun goes down, our hearing starts to take over and we appreciate the sounds of the waves. Andre

Thanks Partha, I think most seascapes have a thicker line of sky inbetween the horizon and the clouds. So, I'm not sure if the narrow sky area on this one is a plus or minus. Personally, I like it this way, so I'm glad you agree! Andre

Hi Kes,
I thought about the clouds maybe looking too threatening for a Peace and Tranquility project. But, the longer I looked at it, the less it seemed to matter. It was evening... so "red sky at night...sailors delight" No storms through the night or morning just as the saying goes. The image was taken looking almost directly north at about 6:50pm. I have several of the sky to the west that look as though the sky is on fire. What a sunset we had that day!!! The clouds were fantastic in every direction, and put on a perfect show for us. The area is specifically recommended for viewing sunsets in the Cape Cod travel guides. Now I know why:)
Yes, the sea has a great calming effect at times. But can change so fast! I remember one year we were in South Carolina during the tail end of one of the hurricanes. What an unbelieveable change we had in a half an hour that day. Nice to read about your sea going adventures in your comments. I take that as a compliment when people tell me that an image of mine brings back memories of theirs :) Thanks a lot Kes! Andre

Hi Andre, Something about the sea, even with the dark clouds, the sea here has a nice quietness. However, I suspect some will probably find this scene foreboding. I guess you would have to know if it was morning or evening:
"Red sky at night: Sailors delight! Red sky at morning: sailors take warning!" :)
When I was 12 or 13 years old, an older friend took me to his place of work. He was a captain on a sea-going tugboat, which transports huge barges (the size of a ship) across the seas. I got to go on a trip from Tampa Bay across the Gulf of Mexico and way up the Mississippi River, and back!
Anyhow, this photo brings memories of the calm of the water out in the middle of the Gulf. I think I would trade the mountains for the sea...almost.... the sailors on the tug told stories of 60' waves in the stormy season....
I guess it's not for everyone. :)
Kes
