Hi Norma, this is a great capture. I was readint the above comments and tilting this pic to adjust the horizon is quite difficult as the way (angle) this pic was taken, happens to a few of my pics too! I agree that cropping without the water would make this pic look awkward. In my opinion, this would be great if that green chair is not there in the background to give more emphasis on the child, but editing that out requires a lot of effort..dont know how to do that myself. very good portfolios you have..keep it up!

Very dramatic crop, Ali, Thank you for your interest in this image. Perhaps there is too much water, but without any water it is hard to tell just what she is doing and where she might land, don't you think?

Perfect timing, Norma. With shots like this you have to shoot quickly and it's very hard to get things like water levels and horizons straight at the time. I think you've done extremely well. Thank you for your kind comments on my pics. I haven't been online much lately so have been a bit slow to reply.:)

Hi Doyle, Thanks for taking the time to work on my photo. I think you are right about cropping to move the subject off center and I'll try to remember that when framing in my view finder. I'm going to leave the original in place because your comments will be more helpful if everyone can see the difference. Norma

Norma . . . on second look I see that you're quite right . . . this is tricky. The water does not appear to even be level inside the pool . . . but thanks to Sir Isaac Newton we know the water must be level. Tricky thing is . . . it's in motion! Still, as is, both seem slanted . . . I think a few degrees and getting it close would still make a good improvement and have tilted and cropped an attachment for your consideration. I cropped to even the tilt AND because photos seem much more dynamic if the subject is not in the dead center of the composition (IMO). Too much centrality makes for static images.
I still think it's a great shot! :)

Doyle, thank you so much. Your encouragement means a lot to me. I spent a few minutes trying to level the shot. I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to upload the correction. When I make the water level or the edge of pool level, the image still seems to be slanted. An optical illusion? Or bad technique? I'll try to figure it out before I upload again. Thanks for your comments.

Awesome Norma! Supergirl caught in mid-flight! I'd recommend you level the shot . . . don't want to see people distracted by the thought the water will pour out on the left ;) - - - but what a neat capture!
