Nice grunge effect. This background totaly fits this tough guys image. The tones work nicely. The sun glasses help alot to portray the effect you are going for. I bet if you could see his eyes, you would see a cream puff. Nice work.

Hi Aram, Thank you for the visits! I think your first supposition is the right one (in my mind of course, since they are two different pictures) - he is looking for the artist who did that; or, he could be looking for a guy named Art (Arthur)- who is on the run (Art pun intended). Thanks for your great comments!

Pure humour: are the eyes of the guy, behind the thick black glasses, searching for the author of the grafitti or is he himself the author and is anxious about being seen?! Tough appearance for a tender soul?! Nice PS work creating a serious and grave ambiance. Thank you.

Hi Mark, thanks for both comments - I would have liked to see more sharpness on the figure, but that was all I could get from that picture. It wasn't intentional...

An terrific creation of mood! Very effective technique. A very small nit, but the wall is in a sharp focus that I'd like to see on the figure as well (more DOF?), though the difference in sharpness might have been intentional. Once again, a VERY effective mood here.

Hi Gyuri, thanks for the multiple comments. The holga filter does the vignetting, and a number of sepia and other colorizations. I have a free 30 day trial only. See the "Toy Camera" project and Mark Beltran's portfolio for Holga images. It's a definitely different look! I'm beginning to like it!

I bet he secretely wishes he had hair so he didn't have to work nights down by the railroad. LOL Now I have to figure out where to get a Holga filter. imitation being the sincerest form of flattery.

Wow, That guy doesn't look like the type of security guard that you want to mess with. Well presented and done Ina!

My Best Regards

Hi Ina, very good portrait on a powerful background. (Again, word-image, very good.) I like the vignette which focuses on the grafitti text of the train. What does the Holga filter do? Cheers, Gyuri

Oh, it's a tv commercial for one of those credit card companies, and it features these barbarian pillagers.

Hi Mark! This holga filter plug-in is too addictive, and so are the B & W ones! I'm totally taken by it. I want to upload a dedication to you - but I have another 2 hrs. So I'll be posting later on the one for you :) Thanks for the filter links and inspiration!

Oh another thing...isn't he one of the Capital One Pillagers, Pillage People?

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 12/3/2005
Powerful! He doesn't have to try to look tough; he is. Is this your first b&w? It's your first "Holga"-like photo, though, and it looks like you used film. I give it 7 if it was for ratings.

INA, the guy looks so serious that I would never get on this train even being a piece of cargo. Beautiful in dark brownish ochre, you are so good INA. n.j
