Reflecting is not difficult. You can get a reflector from a photo store, of course... or you could just use some white card, white cloth, some aluminium cooking foil, a mirror... the possibilities are endless!
That is an excellent point. I noticed that as well, but I've never played around with reflecting light back onto an object. I see that you're rihgt though, and I'd definitely start trying this. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this particular avocado is long gone!
I think the lighting is nice and dramatic, but it would be nice to reflect some light back on to the underside of the avocado, to get some details from its skin.
I guess just balance the light a little bit more, because there are a couple of hotspots on the top also.
