I took this photo from the base of the Tower Bridge in London. The tall funky modern building is the new Swiss Re Headquarters (finished last year), and the old stone walls in the foreground are the Tower of London. I really loved the juxtaposition of old and new in downtown London, with the old being much older than anything I might see at home!
I think if you had the river in then the Swiss Re (or Guerkin never heard it called an easter egg before!) building would be less prominent. You have managed to get buildings from the 11th century to the 21st, not bad for one photo! ;~}
You know what's interesting is that I didn't actually take that shot you described. Usually I take multiple photos, but this time I guess I was happy with the composition and moved on. Well, next time... :)

Super composition on this Tamara, but its a shame the river isn't in the bottom of the shot - that would have made it a great shot! Including more of the tower would also have accentuated the juxtaposition of old and new.
Having said that its still a great shot with the positioning of the Easter Egg being perfectly on the right third of the image - the most powerful vertical.
You've also done well to catch soe of the textures on the smoothly rounded shape too.
