One more thing...it is amazing how the movement in the sky and ground textures echo one another. You are really good at seeing and capturing that as well. I'm putting this in favorites for reference especially in this regard.

Dear Hani, the main idea is selectively lighting and dimming specific parts of the image to create the overall mood (see my "Last Summer" image, I have a comment there on how I do this), and also selectively adding contrast to some parts of the image to create the impact of tones and textures, I so far learned that the best way to do this is by using the dodge and burn tools with varying the amounts of pressure (exposure), for example select the dodge tool and from its options set the "range" to "highlights" and the "exposure" to less than 10% and start painting in the areas that you think should be highlighted, then select the burn tool, set the range to "shadows" and "exposure" to less than 10% and start painting the darker areas within what you just dodged, you'll find the textures coming out very nicely and it will add depth to the image. Give it a try with varying the amounts of exposure to different parts and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

You are a hunter -- how do you find this theme so well. This one is immediately sad because of the way it confronts me with my own mortality. It's hard to think about being in this state...oh stop me from the morbidity -- see what you did...lol. Very dark and beautiful. You could publish a book with your works my friend. Antonia

Hi Fadel,
I actually found the image and the name of the photographer that this photo reminded me of. Now that I see it again, it is not exactly the same, but the theme is similar. The name of the Photographer is Arthur Tress. He has a lot of very haunting images. A lot of them are based on children's dreams. The one I am talking about is has the head of an oil covered, dead, seagull sticking out of the sand, with the landscape in the background. He has a website, with a lot of great stuff on it, but the seagull photo is not on any that I found. You might recognize some of his more famous stuff. The one with the little boy with glasses on and tree roots coming out of his sleeves for hands, is very spooky.

Hi Fadel, very strong and moody image, and very well composed. At first I was a bity puzzled by the centered composition of the piece of driftwood on the beach, but then I noticed the stick in the lower left corner, bringing back that balance I always crave for. It's the missing piece of the puzzle, that results in a very professional and solid shot. Great capture, and I like your postprocessing, creating the mood.

Hi Fadel,
Wow! You must be in a bad mood today.
This photo reminds me of one that I have seen somewhere before. (dead seagull in the sand, very dark and ominus scenery) I had a quick look for it in some of my books, but couldn't find it. I'll keep looking and let you know who the photographer was. Very strong B&W image.
