About Specially for all you lucky people - I want you to see that I am green with envy! :-)))

Updated comment : I have NEVER had so many views on any of my images in such a short period of time! Even if I had posted a shot of a naked woman (or a tight cowboy's bee-hind) would I have had so many "interested eyes" :-)))

Oh well ... if I can't have a D70 I might as well have a bit of fun ...right? :-)) Yeah ... I know ... I could have much more fun with a D70!

LOVE the lighting/composition! But where is the PASSION Linn? A darkish green would have been so much better ... or at least a gradient dark green frame! :)

Oh ... it wasn't creativity ... it was pure envy that drove me to post this out-of-focus, heavily saturated, poor quality green thing

Robert (the hubby) had a long talk with me last night. The D70 is not going to happen and he explained why. So we will wait for the Minolta DiMage Z3 to reach South Africa and I will get that. I warned him that I might just outgrow that one too! He seems to be OK with the idea of replacing my camera every couple of months!

Cheers, Linn!

I?ll go out to breath some fresh air..just can?t stop laughing....

Oh Linn, you are a darling.. ^_^
What matters is not the type of camera you have, but how passionat you are about your work..
I have a D70, but the comments are the same as when I used to upload my pix with a simple digital cam.. ;)
BTW, I strongly agree with Bill and his suggestion about publishing your floral pix..

We need humour to keep us going, right? Especially when we are faced by difficulties that seem to take over. Very funny! ;-)) Jeanette

I have had my Kodak point and shoot for one year, and basically was very content until I started to see the real great photography here on this site. I made the mistake of buying lenses that were recommended for it, but each time I use one, I have to go through so many steps to thread it on, remove this, add that, attach this!! I am usually left with my camera ready to go, and no image to capture. My Dad has all the lenses and it is why I am going this route, he says he never uses them, lol. I am going north to NY next week to spend a week with them, and we are going to spend one afternoon at the local camera store. My God, I can hardly wait to feel it in my hands...I know it will be just the incentive I need to save my money and hopefully by Christmas have one of my very own........Gloria

Linn Currie   {K:24426} 7/14/2004
Ms Fusco :-))) I am honoured, thank you :-)

So you are upgrading to a D70 too? Soon I will be the only one standing with my little baby toy :-(( I will keep on hoping though - that's the best I can do :-) I so hope you get yours soon Gloria - it seems as if the D70 does magnificent work. I also feel that with something like the D70, I can always improve by means of lenses. With the Z1 (what I have currently) I am stuck with the lens and abilities it comes with. So my argument is ... why get the Z3 (just announced) and then still can't improve on it?

Once your ship lands, please send it my way :-))

Linn

You go girl, we need your kind of humor and spirit in the world. It looks as tho, everyone has allready critiqued your capture fully, so I will just say, thank you for your recent comments, and I am adding you as a friend, as you have already displayed your friendship by your comments...and goodness knows, there are very few people that have such a wonderful outlook on life. I will be upgrading shortly to this camera, at least that is what I am working towards...Gloria

Linn Currie   {K:24426} 7/14/2004
Micky, you got much more guts than me! There is NO way I could stand by and watch a friend shoot with a D70 - that would be too painful! Well, actually it could be painful for the friend because I think I would mug him/her just to get my hands on the D70!

Hopefully your ship will come in soon and then you can brag with your D70. I know my ship hasn't even been built yet :-((

Have a great day - we are having freezing weather again!

Good Morning Bili ... I am pleased to hear that you also desire a D70!!

How are you feeling today? Have the blues toned down a bit? I do hope so! Life is too short to be miserable and sad. We are allowed to feel that way, of course, but then after a short while we tell it to go away and we go find some happiness again.

(((HUGS)))

Linn, Why don't you publish a coffee table book on all your best floral shots then you'll have the money for the D70! ;^)

In the mean time I'm sending you a brochure of the D70 to tide you over!

(You and I can dream together on getting this baby!!)

Best,
Bill

Good Morning Jim! :-) If only this was a real image, your critique would have been on the front page! :-)))

Seems UF members had fun with the comments. Oh well ...if my envy caused a couple of smiles, then it is well worth it! :-))

Have a great day.

Good Morning Chris :-)
How did you know we had curry last night? But it was goooood! We needed the hot (as in spice) food last night as a bitterly cold front hit our area :-(( Brrrrrr....

You know ... when I saw that Neil Dolman got his D70 is just felt sick :-((( You are one of the few people that know how much I want a D70. And you also know that I speak truthfully - so yes, I am incredibly envious of all of the D70 owners and don't mind the whole world to know it!

Oh well ... seems everybody had fun and enjoyed the comments. I did too ... and I am also pleased to see that I am not the only one longing for a D70!

Have a great day Mr S. Tell Carole that I am thrilled to bits that she is making you work! And do tell her that I wish her a speedy recovery, but that she should fake pain for a while. The longer she gets treated like a queen the better :-))

Hi Linn,You are a real character, you dont need a D70!!! you get more views, comments and laughs than any D70 user and it has not cost a cent.
I sure know where you are coming from though,I go out with a friend using D70 and I am the same colour as you.I can dream they are free but I would need to win a lottery!!!
Have just loved reading all the comments,I was in need of a good laugh,I was fair rocking!!!
Keep up the good work you are doing famously.
Regards Micky.

I would never trade my canon 300D for a D70
all Dslr are very difficult to use.And very expensive on good lenses.
Just be happy with your camera for now Linn.
Its a great camera and in 2years you will be able to get even better than the marked offers now.

Hi Linn, I've just returned from the pub and Margaret keeps pinching my bum. On interrogation she tells me it's all your fault and to do with this picture. Me? Well I think it's out of focus, overexposed, unbalanced and would upset Robert as it's not the right shade of red. I hope I get better results when my D70 finally arrives.

I have to deagree with you and Laurie, tight cowGIRL butts would be the thing to shoot with the D70 or anyother camera for that matter.
As for getting the D70 I'd say do what I did sell the Z3 and get the D70, thats what I did, sold my Pentax and got what I always wanted, my Nikon, never looked back, never been happier. Now if the photogarpher were half as good as the camera I'd get some good shots. LOL
Go for it girl, you wont regret it but, if you dont, you'll always will.

I love the composition and the cropping. Nice DOF. However, as a D100 owner I am not sure the exposure is up to snuff. D100 correct (?) exposure provided for your comment.

I knew what this was about before I ever opened the thumbnail!
I smiled so wide my cheeks touched the sides of my office!!
Is it a shot of your lawn with 250 pixel gaussian blur perhaps, or a picture of Rob after a dodgy curry?!
Awesome image, Linn!
Best regards, Chris

Jim Christensen   {K:18843} 7/13/2004
My My, now you have done it, This is outstanding, the way the images blends within the scope of itself. Qnd your focus ! forground to infinity is perfect. I have seen this image made before, but never with the care and time you must have taken.
The lighting is astounding, the softness ,yet it blends so perfectly and harmoniously with all of the elements of the image, but not so as to make any one stand out but rather to bring them to gether in yet another of your delightful images.

Linn - yeah I tried to find the hidden cowboy butt ----- I mean boot of course ----but it must be very subliminal ---- or wishful thinking. Great fun, I'll get Den to check out this masterpiece/ I've been in 'my studio' again. I love your set up and sorry didn't get round to commenting. I got the cushion behind the rose. I stuck rose in curtain cord. I stuck mirror on table and cushion behind that and put one of my crystal clowns on it. Oh yes - I've been clowing around again. Haven't looked at them yet, though

Hi Sweetie!

Sending Robert D70 samples is not going to help. You would have to photograph some stunning South African Rands before I can get the D70. Just too much money ... and selling off the Z1 and the cards and batteries will mean we lose too much money. I think the only thing I might get is the new Z3. That is of course, if I behave!

But I will never stop dreaming about the D70 :-)

About you slowing down on the confidence ... give your blue image some credit! :-)

Linn

Linn,

Whoaaaaaa! I'd like to see the EXIF-data of this one. It's probably perfect 'middle grey'?!?

Do I have to send a mail to Robert to puruade him? Could show him some sample pics by now.....

This should be the pic of the day.

Jeroen

(pssst, Linn, I was waiting for the BIP; felt pretty sure about that one. But now I have to slow done on the confidence side....)

Hi Laurie
Yeah, I know :-) If you find any drool on your computer screen when you view your cowboy collages, then know it comes all the way from South Africa.

There is but nothing as pleasing to the eye as a tight cowboy butt ... er ... I mean ... cowboy boot.

Impossible Neil. I have the perfect lighting set-up; used a tripod and didn't spill any coffee over the camera. This is as perfect as you will ever get ... not even a D70 can be this good!

Envious Linn :-)
