Hi Kim! Yes, this does look better with a little more blurring on the bg. But this wasn't one of the selected poses, so I haven't bothered with it! But thank you for taking time to look over it and comment! I appreciate it so much!

Beautiful catchlights in her eyes... they really bring life and sparkle to her face. I wonder if maybe a little less DOF would have made this a bit stronger, as I find her feet a little bit of a distraction being so in focus. Hmm, just scrolled down to see that this has already been addresses! Sorry! Still, a lovely potrait! She must love them!

Love this...Her face and pose are very natural and relaxed. Your lighting and focud have been set just perfectly. The close crop reduces any/all background distractions. Very well done.

Thanks for your comment and suggestion Rawabi. I am always afraid to use my on camera flash, because it really blows everything out. And I only have one battery at the moment, and my off camera flash (hotshoe attachment) drains my battery too much. But I will keep that in mind in the future.

Thank you Peter. I really appreciate that. I do have optical zoom and digital zoom. I will keep that in mind. Also, thanks for the tip on the hotspots. Thanks for your time!

I'm assuming the camera you're using is a fixed lens camera, in which case if you've got an optical zoom, that should help, digial "zoom" (it's not really zooming, it's just croping and interpolating) wouldn't make a differance. I took a look at the other images from this pose in your porfolio, and as others have mentioned, I think this is the best of them; the framing is just right, there's enough room for the subject to 'breath' and not alot of unessicary space. Also in the others there's alot more bright specular light in the background that can be distracting. Your eye is always drawn to the bright areas of an image first, so you don't want to avoid those being in the background. The few little ones in this image aren't bothersome to me, and sometimes one or two small ones are inevitable.

Thank you Peter very much for your input. I do agree, I would have liked a little more shallow dof. I don't have a longer lens, but would it have helped if I had gotten farther away and zoomed in more? At this point, I could always blur the bg more in PS. But would like to know how I could have done it better. Also, I thank you for the comment on the feet. She didn't like the feet in it at all, but I liked the addition. I hate that it looks like they're coming out of her head. I will watch out for that in the future. Thanks again!

This is a good shot, the expresion is good, and it shows you worked well with the subject, and the head and shoulder postions are good. I'm not sure what lens you were using, but the depth of field is a little more than I'd want, it looks like alot for f/2.8, you might try shooting with this aperture on a longer lens from farther away, the background will go into softer focus. Also this is a hard position to pose without the subject's feet looking like they're growing out of their head. You might want to shoot from an angle that hides the legs and feet entirely, or more from the side so the one foot isn't coming out of her head.

I like this one best from the 3. The pose and her expression are so natural. She looks very relaxed and ingenuous. The cotton shirt, jeans and bare feet add to this. Her eyes have a bright and gentle soul quality. The light caught in her hair is lovely and adds beautiful golden highlights. Beautiful portrait captured lovingly.
