Wicked shot Tom, love it. You remind me of me. I just bought a 10d and have done much experimenting whilst reading the manual. Keep up the good work.

Exposure looks good to me. Very simple subject, but not a simple capture. Well done. Thanks for the pic of the day congrats. I was pleasantly surprised by that.

Hi Tom. This seems well composed & exposed (although I mainly do landscape so I'm not too involved with artificial light)
Thanks for your comments. The seagulls on the left looks right on the original image (not resized) and I usually don't re-edit resampled shots. Anyway thanks again. Some suggestions I would like to give you are: 1)THINK before taking a picture. (composition is a matter of shooting an "interesting" subject in an "interesting" way and it is something that you'll hardly fix in PS - except for cropping) 2)After that look at each of your photos and ask yourself: "Does this says something to me ?" If not trash it ! (You'll throw away 95% of your photos - just like me...). Be severe with yourself! (it is the only way to grow)
Hope not being too pedant.
Happy shooting!
Regards,
Giovanni.

Do we think it's right????? It's PERFECT!! Just awesome. Pleasing to look at, in it's simplicity and subtle contrast. The rest of your portfolio is very nice, as well. Thanks for your recent kind comments. ...Brad

i would move the lamp right on the diagonal. so that it creates a balance. other than that it is a great shot.

I think you achieved an interesting composition and exposure. A very good job with a subject that would otherwise be dull. Nice!

Minimalism at its best. I would not crop either side. I appreciate that you took the time to experiment with the exposure. Shooting digital one is often tempted to just point, shoot then adjust in post-processing. I believe that all the same "rules" acquired when shooting film apply to digital and it's best to learn with film then progress to digital. I did the opposite and learned so much having to think about shutter speed, aperture, ISO, zones, developer type and time, using an enlarger and all the differences in cameras and formats. While many of us scour the country looking for the ultimate shot. You've found a nice one in your house. I think this is dazzling, in an understated way, very soothing yet interesting.

You did this perfectly Tom, The exposure was right, different black and white levels can be visibly seen, I could even see the back of that light which has something protruding at the back. And the grains on wall is just so detailed. Excellent work cant say anything more
