Joggie,
I'm glad to see you saved this from your cat ;o) Our cats are equally giving of presents however they usually bring grass snakes. I really like the flow and composition you chose. I especially like your minimalism for background. It makes the entire shot more dramatic and focused. Well done as usual. Keep up the great work!!! I love your style.

I am happy that you paused for a photographic opportunity, Joggie! The texture, irridescence focus and timing to get the tongue and a classic S curve help me gratly appreciate this creature - even though I do not like snakes!

Hi Joggie , a brilliant shot indeed. Living on a smallholding i get a lot of these snakes. I have the odd resident frogs in my workshop, and obviously they are atrscting these snakes.

Geeze, Joggie. The other night I was watching a show on the poisonous snakes of Africa... and they were talking about how deadly the Puff Adder was. I thought about you out there roaming around in the boonies... and then you post this snake. LOL

Excellent capture, Joggie, and a very interesting composition, with the head in focus, and the body winding in and out of focus. Before I read the "about" I wondered how you got him against that background. You've got a pretty brave cat there, too!

Hi Joggie,
Nearly the same thing happened to me, my greyhound came inside swinging one of these around his head. It must have taken 3 hours on the web to find out what kind of snake it was, unfortunately we killed it before we found out it was harmless. I feel really sorry about that now though:(

A nice DOF brings the head out of the shot very well..great detail Joggie.
I would jump out of my skin if my cat brought me something like this...interesting to know that his venom doesnt affect man though. An excellent capture
