I certainly would not call it nit-picking, I despise nit-picking *snicker, snicker*...more so an equal mix of good and not so good (bad is such a harsh word) points, that's what I appreciate about your critiques Doyle...brutal honesty with a touch of finesse! Thanks my friend!
BTW...Mommy's real name is Kari. :)
Take care...Robin

Awesome effect Robin and I'd say the composition is pretty much perfect. I'm not too sure about the thin borderline fade making the whitish area just before the thin black framing delineator. Since I'm not sure . . . I guess you get less than a criticism from me for it . . . I just like the crisp border generally . . . but then again . . . this is a soft, high-key (well-done I might add) and it may benefit from an ambiguous border. See my dilemma? I like Collin's eye being as sharp as it is but . . . (IMO) it might have been a tad sharper to really lock the image into the here and now . . . while letting the rest fade into a dreamlike past. The bottom left loses some detail in 'Mommy's' lip which I would have avoided . . . by cloning if need be . . .
All that being said . . . I love it. Innovative crop - unique stylistic approach . . . and an intimate portrait. Good thing she had Collin if you named her 'Mommy'! Must have been difficult when she was in school! :)
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Very sweet! I too think it's an excellent crop. Although you have the "grainy film for effect" the little boy's eye comes in alot clearer than the rest. Very interesting!

In my opinion a clever, skillful, unusual, thoughtful, sweet image. So you know that I like the picture very much. Bravo Robin! Cheers.
