James: They can move in almost any direction but I attract them with a small feeder which they will back out of and pose for me. The feeder is out of the frame at the left.

I have been shooting them since July, 2002. Every shot teaches me more. I keep acquiring more things to make them better but the birds don't always cooperate. Thank you for the kind comments.

Well Fred, it's been a while but as it turns out it was worth the wait. Congrats on the POD, very well deserved. The detail and color are just fantastic.

Jacob: The synching you describe would involve about 50 Lbs more equipment to carry around so I guess I will continue without it. The fact that the camera will not synch above 1/250 is another factor. Thanks for your kind comments.

Fantastic image! Too bad about the limited synch time with the flash...would like to have seen the wings absolutely frozen. As it is, I do like the feeling of motion the wings create.
