Terrific shot of buttress roots, Bruce. When I visited Australia I took loads of buttress root pictures but, for some unknown reason, they almost all came out on the blurry side. I love how the trees seem to march down the diagonal. Well done! Steve

Thanks Susie, I thought it was being possessive of the leaf litter, future sustenance, so perhaps you are right about it holding on for dear life.

Thanks Jim, that green caught my eye too. They're Moreton Bay figs, Brisbane is on Moreton Bay so we get them here too, but I haven't seen them with this colour lichen. And I take your point about the scale, its just something I naturally know and hadn't even considered might be a cause for mystery.

What a cool abstract Bruce! This tree does in fact look possessive. Or maybe holding on for dear life? This is just so cool looking. Susie

I really like the green on the roots. For some reason that really grabs my eye. I think the only thing that might make this stronger would be to include something in the image to provide a sense of scale. This subject is one that you know the scale of, but for someone like myself that has never seen this type of tree in person it leaves me wondering how big or small these roots really are.
