Very suggestive image. I like the distortions, the attractive centre force, and the high contrasted choice.

Thanks for the Munch reference, Gyuri, and sorry I was away for a few days, didn't get to reply to your comments, I hope you are having a great holiday and a very Happy New Year!

Very powerful, Ina, I wish you added some notes about the "know how". Looks like a variation on Munch, you could have copied the famous crying figure in the foreground. (Perhaps it would have been far fetched, the pic is very strong, anyhow). Best: György

Yes Andrzej, some subjects seem better when viewed distorted, I think :)

Ina, I see you did similar trick using the same tool as I did to my trecks. Great effect and a very compelling frame. I like the stuff like that. Great color tones. Cheers, n.j

nice effect....like the overall look of the image..the distorted view adds to the composition and creates a great mood... I imagine this is ps work since you are using a 70-300mm lens...good work and nicely captured...

Agree with Bob on this, has a strong pulling feeling in it..
Well composed with a slight Van Gogh-ish mood to me.
My best,
Endre

Thanks Aram, I feel humbled by your comment and reference. I find sometimes a distorted reality is more appropriate to the mood of the subject than the regular picture. I never really want to record anything in a journalistic sense, but rather record an impression of what I saw, and a dreadful winter mood such as this came naturally!
Thanks again, Ina

Dear Ina,

Thanks a lot for the hint about Edut and Delete commands. I removed the double posted image and uploaded the real-size pivture. You are right and somehow anticipate on the third picture of this Trilogy... But I don't say any more now!!

This picture is for me a black and white Van Gogh: same passion and same personal point of view, Very nice composition and quite subtle usage of the PS distorsion tool. Bravo and thanks for sharing.

Glad to see this "Habit God" (referring to Kathy Hillard's comment) resumed His servile power on all of us!!

Hi Gary, and thanks for your comment. No mountains to climb in Brampton :) I like the Milton area nearby and toward Guelph there is some nice scenery (mainly hills). How do you like this grey weather? Hope you have a great holiday, is that with family or friends? Cheers, Ina

Thank you dear Robert for both comments, indeed there is a sentiment of "something" about to happen here :) I also think you shouldn't abandon your ghost series, I loved every one of them, and I hope more are coming! Best regards, Ina

Thanks Yahya, I think this is the only picture in my life where I found a car useful in a landscape (apart from car shots which are a different category). Actually I think the abandoned car is more weird than the house.

Wow Ina, this is a stunning image. Creates an optical illusion of being sucked in. I love tones that you have used, the almost sepia of the sky and the stark solid blacks and whites of the house. Absolutely stunning work.

very cool effect, Ina!! the dark "blob" of the house is effective balanced by the 2 windows there. Very nice!! Cheers, Gary...

ps, i am "home" in Ontario for the holidays (Brampton) Just about as white here as it was in BC when I left. Have a merry Christmas and all the best in 2006 (-:

Cool image with the flow moving past the home . Nice detail in the grass
I find this new site great with only one complaint though is sometimes when I have commented it has shown up twice on the person's site.

Thanks for your comments Rick, Enas, Mark :)
I'm stretching it in PS, w/out using a wide-angle lens. I usually shoot with my 70-300 lens. Some subjects just seem too static, and that's when I distort them. This one seems to have a windy effect.

  0

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 12/17/2005
I think with the warp effect, the feel of the place is heightened. That's why when I use wide-angle lenses, i don't bother to "fix" convergence and divergence. I prefer to exaggerate it, because through human eyes, our field of view is so much more than what a lens can cover.

Hi Kathy, I can't see any problems of major importance, other than the fact that email notifications don't work, which means you don't know when someone replies to you on their website (unless you keep checking). Uploads are fine, browsing is better / faster, hopefully they're working on the other small bugs! Hugs, Ina

This is an unusual effect Ina! It looks like a pencil drawing.
Are you still having problems with the new site? It seems to be getting better. I guess we are all creatures of habit...hard to accept new things :) Take care!
Kathy
