Thanks Andre, this one is by far my favorite of the bunch. It's the most awkward looking, like a poor perspective you see in a child's drawing. You nailed it :) Cheers, Ina

Hi Ina, Even though you got the awards for the colour one in the set, this one to me, is by far the best of the compositions! I think this one should have had the awards. Great use of shadows, high contrast and an interesting composition! Andre

A beautiful graphical shot, Ina! I think I might have cropped out the bench and and hedge, too, but it still stand as an excellent shot. Dave.

Superb! ... this and the other in "playground" series they are very graphic - they resemble architectural drafts.

He-he! That's the hallmark of a true professional - total dedication :))) My heart goes out to all photographers in cold climates :))) The coldest weather I've been out in was a sunny -22C after a freezing rainstorm, taking pictures of huge icicles.

I know they do... a while ago I was standing outside for 3 hours in the freezing cold waiting for the right light for a photograph when I noticed that my hand had frozen to my tripod. I had to get my lighter out with my good hand and heat it up so I could free it. Ouch.

I'm sure they will... children have to be tough in Canada what with the cold! A bit of snow wouldn't put them off. When I was 19 I experienced winter in British Columbia... I thought my bits were going to get frostbite. I am not tough enough, you see...

Great number one!! Super shadows/lines and POV... very well spotted!! Good composition, but Gary's crop... I like that very much... just imagine that in a very big square white passepartout, with a black frame... oooooh... ;-D

Thanks for the idea, Patrick, you can see this guy and his dog in my reply to Gary... only the man walked his dog in a different area, nowhere near the swings, and there were too many trees... I guess dogs go where the trees are? Anyway, children *might* show up on the swings, so I'll keep watching :)Best regards, Ina

Hi Gary, I don't have a child picture (yet) but you can see a man and a dog in a different location, along Patrick's idea. Only this guy and his dog just wouldn't walk into the right spot that day :)Darn :)

Thanks very much Walter! I deliberately overexposed to get the white whiter, and more contrast, but the Usefilm white background is a warm white, and mine is a cool white, so you still see the edges. My intention was to not see the edges... Best regards, Ina

You could be right there, Patrick. There's only one way to test this, so lets hope Ina get's some more sun and a child in view. Aesthetically, I think it has to be a single child - though that might be the hardest part of recreating the image, as soon as one starts swinging..
Ina, can you add a child to my suggested crop? I like this image so much I'd be happy to fly to Canada with a willing kid for the shoot
Regards, Gary :) ;)

Thanks very much Gary! I thought the linear projections (sun & shadows) were tricky too, they almost seem "bad" in a perspective sense, they look more like an isometric drawing. Best regards, Ina

Good point, Gary. It would be interesting to see. I am tempted to think that the geometry of the image is so strong that one would concentrate on that first and then see the child on the swing, which would come as a surprise...

An amazing series. They miraculously turn from (what I thought were) line drawings in the thumbnail to highly creative abstracts when enlarged. Perspective goes out of the window when viewing these, I need to focus on one element to get the correct angle of view and sense of depth, even then perspective tends to shift with prolonged viewing. The swing seats still look like they're pointing upwards in the air to me - they're not are they? I can see the sense behind Patrick's idea of having a child in the frame, their shadow would certainly enhance the image as an aerial view, but I wonder whether it might make me also lose sight of some of the perceptual tricks too? Regards, Gary

This is fantastic as well... I wish there had been a child on one of the swings so that you had a human shadow amidst all the geometical shapes in the rest of the image.
