Hiya Megan
I love the composition of this - straight horizon line or no straight horizon line. Some rules are made to be broken. From one photographer to another, some of the best pics on this site defy rules. Go with it, enjoy taking photographs and don't get caught up in the "how tos" - it may cramp your style and that would be sad. I know your teacher means well, but tell her to chill, from what I hear, she doesn't do any of the 'teaching' anyway!!! Love your work...!

Nice photograph. I like the contrast you have created with the sand. The composition and colour of the thongs work well, a crisp feel.

Thank you very very much for the info, Megan!

Well, indeed that filter gave it the "final finish".

Keep well,

Nick

Thank you so much for you comments Nick.

I used a filter on the sand. I can't remember which one it was though. I used a similar one on the art room chairs. Two completly differnt images but the both work well with similar filters.

The shoes lack a bit of texture here, but this is more than equaled by the extremely strong color. They seem to pop out of that darker background. But still their color looks... like a shining shadow!

By the way, how did you managed to get the sand looking this way?

All the best,

Nick

Many of your photos, like for example this here, show a very original approach to photography. I am really glad to see that you develop your distinct style without imitating!

This one is such a nice piece of modern photography! The originality of composition alone is worth a 7. But if we add the crispy contrasts and the cold lighting, we have a 7+!

Best wishes,

Nick

Very nice detailed photo, Megan, that really has something special. The composition could be a bit better, if the small house at the left wouldn't be cut. But the rest of it is reallyvery well done!

Wow thats so close. It, at first, is rather distracting but when you begin to understand that we are looking more at the flowers behind the front ones, it becomes more clear. I really like the border, its cool.
Nice work
