aperture at f22 jon ,certainly didnt see any purple haze on the night ,so i think that is the light effect i got from the 1 minute exposure.i did get much confusion in many other shots on the night with those flare type fireworks often burning out the image when exposed at long lengths.this shot was only one of 4 good ones i got out of 150 shots.

Definitely an unusual result. I would have thought that such a long exposure would have brightened the sky too much and resulted in an over-confusion of fireworks in the image. An interesting shot.

the occasion in the uk is "Guy Fawkes Night" it is an annual event for which Guy Fawkes in 1605 tried to blow up the houses of parliament.
the colouring purple is from the long exposure and the colurs of the firework are from a blue filter set in the camera menu.
anyway there you have an history lesson and i havent thought about the reason since my school years.
regards brian

I was wondering where fireworks would be set off this time of year... normally these types of shots are posted in July due to the 4th of July celebrations in the US. What was the occaision? Very nice exposure on this shot. I like the coloring of the fireworks quite a bit. That tone of blue/purple looks great with a dark background.
