Wow, it must have been hard to get the color on the leaf only. I've done selective color, but don't think I've ever had results this good. Nice work~

Janet, Absoulutely love your choice of color tone. It is very smooth with the perfect amount of contrast. Very cute and natural candid. You should check out Photographer Christy McCullough on UF. She would inspire you with the children work as well. Yours and her's work remind me alot of each other. Your both very talented with capturing the perfect "moment". Regards, Damion

Hi Angela, That is the actual color of the leaf...I desaturated and used the history brush to bring back the color. Thanks :0)

Very nice selective coloring Janet! I love it! This really works...well done. The only thing I would consider is desatting the leaf just a tad (not much!) I look so forward to seeing your new stuff. :)

Did you see the movie "Pleasentville"? Its not only a wonderful movie, but it is also a masterpiece in selective color artwork. I met the supervisor who was in charge of the selective color and transition effects for that movie. It was really interesting to hear what his experiences were. He said on all the shots where they had a couple of color elements in an overall B&W scene they reduced the saturation of the color as it looked too intense and unnatural.
Don't get me wrong, I'm trying to convince you to change your photo. Just my point of view. I think I would increase the contrast on the leave a little to get more structure and then reduce the saturation of it by 50%.
But keep in mind I'm a fan of subtile things, most people do like bold effects though.

Always that bad apple in the bunch!!
Kidding, David!! Well, I didn't saturate the leaf at all, so I really didn't give it much thought, but you may have a point. Willing to give your suggestion a try! Thanks!

Very beautiful! I know I'm the only one here, but to me the red leave feels a little too intense being the only color in the photo.
