Mariposa,

Vagarosa

Rica en tinte y en donaire

?qué haces tú de rosa en rosa?

?de qué vives en el aire?

Yo, de flores

Y de olores,

Y de espumas de la fuente,

Y del sol resplandeciente

Que me viste de colores.

From Rafael Pombo (El nene y la mariposa)

Tu creacion esta hermosa!

Felicitaciones!

Bernard,
Thanks for your continued passion over my comments on your image. Since you have removed your image from your thread I guess we can continue to debate here on mine if you like. I'm glad to see that you have picked this image titled "Harmony".

I understand that Bali is a beautiful place and if I could take my family I would. But I'm a financially strapped widower of two boys and we go to Mexico to enjoy our vacations. But thanks for the invitation.

I'm sure that suicide bombers are misguided. But they and their leaders are cowards in my book. It takes no bravery to kill unarmed and unsuspecting individuals. Do they have a cause? If they do, I and most of the world only remember the act and those who were injured or died and not their reasons for killing them.

In my country a person is considered innocent before declared guilty and that is why I referred to the people in your image as innocent.

Going back to my comment of your image;

"I don't like the title to this image! I see nothing to suggest it but backpacks. As for the image I don't really see anything that a simple disposable point and shot could not have taken. No real thought or purpose."

What I should have done is skipped your image or write some BS you might have liked, like. "What a creative image. I like how you tilted it a little to simulate fear. The blurred individuals strengthen the image in that it relates to unknown individuals. Also I would like to add that relating backpacks and a public place to come up with your title is pure mastery. Mr. Choo Thank you for posting this image as it makes the hair on my neck stand up with fear. This should be a wakeup call to the world to watch out for backpacks". Is that better sir?

Finally you ask if I?m right and you are wrong. The only thing I can say or ask you. Did the individuals in your image blow something up or were they innocent. You know when and where you took the image. Was there an attack or not. If there was, you were right! If not then..... Well you know! They are INNOCENT!

Have a nice day!

Daniel

RE: Suicide Bombers

You wrote... "So may I suggest, that you have a wonderful day and look at like thru a view finder and find beauty or TRUTH and not ill founded assumptions!"

My reply...
It was never my assumption that they're suicide bombers, you don't seem to accept that the words used is only a title for the image. What if I name an image of a television "An Idiot's Box", will you take that as my assumption everyone on this earth is an idiot. And what if I name some airline pilots as kamikaze pilots!!! What then??? If that's not being narrow minded, pray tell me what is?

You also wrote... "Being called by you a "narrow minded soul" seems to hold no validity as it is not me who call innocent people suicide bombers because they have a backpack."

For the sake of this argument...
How do you know they're innocent people? Isn't that an ill founded assumption as well? Do you know the suicide bomber in the recent Bali bombing was an innocent looking guy with a backpack.

Daniel, take a family holiday to Bali come next October... I'm sure you'll love it there!

You said... "I was not in Bali or in any other location where cowards have killed innocent people".

I say...
No, suicide bombers are not cowards but misguided souls. So does that mean you're right and I'm wrong.

I know you never ask me to remove the image, but four other guys did. One even commented that I'm SICK, another advised me to show respect to the dead and same time tried to give me an update on current events in SE Asia.

My warm regards to you and family.

Bernard

Hi Daniel, I love the collage, it has the quality of film strips, and all are wonderful shots of the butterfly. I would probably flip the one in the middle right, for the sake of direction.Love the sharpness & DOF, and they look excellent on black! Ina

Because you have posted this on my image I feel that others who read it form thier own opinion.

Here was my reply.

You say that your titles are intended only to provide humor and attract viewers. I agree that a title is intended to attract and at times complement an image in humor, sadness?, love and so on.
Your title would have been appropriate if in fact that is what they were. I some how don't think that the people in the image would appreciate you using their image with such a title.

I was not in Bali or in any other location where cowards have killed innocent people. But this does not mean I am insensitive to the suffering they and their families have and will endure.

Going to my comment;
"I don't like the title to this image! I see nothing to suggest it but backpacks. As for the image I don't really see anything that a simple disposable point and shot could not have taken. No real thought or purpose."

You will notice that I said I did not like the title. I must remind you that you are on a critic site and that was my opinion. Second your image was poorly executed. It was tilted and blurred. And then the last comment. "No real thought or purpose". That again is my opinion. Your image was and is of poor quality and in my opinion serves no purpose other than suggest that because people are carrying backpack they are "suicide bombers".

Being called by you a "narrow minded soul" seems to hold no validity as it is not me who call innocent people suicide bombers because they have a backpack. That is like saying poor people are lazy or that rich people are heartless and so on.

Finally, you said I hope you're all happy now...." happy I never asked you to remove your image. You did that on your own.

So may I suggest, that you have a wonderful day and look at like thru a view finder and find beauty or TRUTH and not ill founded assumptions!

Daniel

This is the image I commented of. Please note the this is a Bernard Choo image and that I in no way an passing it off as my own! jajaja

Hi Daniel,

RE: SUICIDE BOMBERS

Photography is just a hobby to me, I don't make a living out of it. I love taking pictures of unusual objects and people from all walks. Some of the titles I use are intended only to provide humor, and maybe to attract more viewers. I'm sad, sad that some narrow minded souls took offence just because they do not like my title. By the way, I was in Bali October 12, 2002 when 202 people died in terrorist bombings, one of them was my muslim friend. Where were you then???

Anyway I've already removed the photo "Suicide Bombers".
I hope you're all happy now....

Have a nice day!
