About Golden sunlight bathes a dilapidated jetty and fragile walkway on Lochearnhead in Perthshire, Scotland. The texture revealed in the weathered wood and pockmarked concrete made a glorious lead in to the distant shoreline dotted with cottages in the shadow of a wooded hillside. Hello Ian,
Thanks for clearing things up on the medium format camera. NOw I know how you got that depth on your photos with a 55mm lens. It must be quite heavy carrying it and a tripod on your mountain hiking trips. I only bring a 350D and a light tripod when hiking. Happy shooting :)

Hi Benedict,

The Pentax 67II is indeed a med format camera the lens equivalent of a 35mm system is infact approx 28mm. However the 6x7 actaually goes to F32 extending depth of field even further at the apparently negligible expense of lens diffraction effects.

Naturally to extend depth of field I utilise the hyperfocal focussing technique for virtually every shot I do. (if you are not familiar with this technique it is worth reading about it, roughly speaking it means focussing approx a 1/3 of the way into the image). Hope that helps clear it up.

very beautiful shot. i wonder how you get everything sharp and in focus with a 55-100mm lens. is the pentax 67II a medium format camera and does medium format cameras perform differently from an SLR? with an SLR I think you will need at least a wide angle 24mm lens at f/22 to get a shot as sharp as this

Hi Ian,

Thos is a lovely shot. The colours are great and the detail upon the jetty is also very interesting.

Thomas.

Stunning image Ian!! The composition and rich colours are quite striking. Very well done! May I suggest trying a crop to remove most of the blue sky? I think it would make the image even more striking. Just a thought?.. let me know what you think if you try it.
Best regards!
Shane

This is one of those pictures that makes me want to pack my bags and go. Excellent exposure with the strong side lighting amplifying thexture on the poles and stones of the pier. Excellent detail in the background. If I could I would run through the screen of my computer and dive of this pier in the welcoming waters of this lake. Excellent job! I will check Your website, but I have to run to my laundromat before someone will take care of all my clothes. Ciao!

Beatiful shot. Well composed and executed. I think you pretty much summed up why yourself in the About.
