About Takes a bit of nerve getting this close to the rotors of the turbines. They are colossal things and go round stupidly fast and ahve an eerie whistle - then occasionally make a deadening metallic creaking noise liks a girder being dropped onto concrete.

You find yourself walking up sheepishly then running beneath the actual blades. They are a good 30 foot over your head, but look so much closer.

this one's just a typical one, spinning away.

pointedc the 24-85 at it witha polariser on to get that deep blue sky.

the rotors were a bit dark, so selected what I could of them with the magic wand then set the feather to 50 pixles. with that selected, I added a Curves Adjustment layer and upped the brightness. the feather gets rid of any harsh edges.

More abstract than usual, carefully cropped (after 37 attempts) to be asymmetrical as possible.

I think this is brilliant. So often these things ruin a good landscape, rarely they make more than an 'ok' subject and rarer still, they make a stunning image in themselves. This one sits nicely around the latter. Full of energy, stunning colour and a very strong composition. Well done.

Nice abstract, a little surreal, even. I like this very much.

I see the feathering and lightening that was part of your selection and adjustment work. I think that adds a little to the surreal nature of this, taking the blades and supporting post out of the lighting context of the sky a little bit, I think. The sky is quite saturated while the blades and the post appear somewhat less so within the field of your selection, and lighter of course. This is not a criticism at all, I like this effect very much and I think in combination with this crop and the generally strange and unfamiliar nature of the subject, your adjustments are quite effective. Very nice work!

Also, as a separate comment, I thank you for sharing the technique used in this facinating shot. It is very instructive. Thanks again!

Fabulous Ade! Love the blades and the effect of motion the selection and feathering has enhanced! Not so sure about the bright line along the left side of the upright and turbine housing though....

Fab colour contrasts too with the white on the blue...

Well done!!!

Now then Ade the 37 attempts is that to do with - 1 wanting perfection - 2 or something to do with that old peculiar problem LOL seriously what a great effect you have achieved
