hi Kathy! my PS is 7.0, possibly your version does not have the same settings. but try looking for the curves tool inside the menu "image" > "adjustments" > "curves".

Thanks for your detailed reply Ricardo! Do you have PS Pro? I have PS Elements, and to my knowledge I don't have the curves tool. You do such nice work...I appreciate your time!

hi Kathy! thanks!

i use several settings for the final effect. usually at first i use autolevels for a general balancing. if that not fits i return, go to contrast and colors individually and change the necessary. if that fits then i at once duplicate the layer and apply in the second layer a curves effect for enhancing the contrast, then i use transparency levels or copy and paste over the former condition and erase some definite areas to show the underlying layer, then flatten all, dodge tool and burn tool for enhancing special areas of light and shadow, then saturation of colors, change of hue, sharp or blur accordingly to each case, and so on, i cannot remember all the steps, but in general they are these.

A beautiful seascape Ricardo, good timing for the breaking wave. Nice light, very nice contrasts.
Best regards

Very pretty Ricardo! This is another one that looks like a painting. What settings do you use to accomplish this?
