Very sweet moment and nicely framed by the trees.

heh heh

Kes-

Although by chance, it followed immediately after your cropped version, "Print it darker... " wasn't a comment about your printing of it.

Sammy -

Yeah, I was coming to that conclusion also. I might darken that second shot, but I don't really like the extra space to the right of the tree (on the right side). The toning down above the kids is probably ok.

one problem, this shot is "out of sequence" for what I had in mind for this "spot". Should have been a color shot...

:-)

...thanks for your comments.

I like it Keseph. Very contrasty, but it works well here with the b/w and the trees. Has a really nice feel to it.

Great photo, Keseph!
Love how she has a stick....looks like she is ready to defend the little one who is clinging!
Congrats!

Sammy,
lol, I thought I was darker...but was working off the original again...

second photo not as dark, yet with highlights toned down.

I'll take another look later...

He also always had a black pen.

He would move it around over our
pictures and say, "Where's the black?"

Kes-

When I was just a kid
printing 6x6 verichrome,
shot with a TLR Cirroflex,
people kept saying,
"Print it darker"

Much later, in photo classes
for two years, on hundreds of
assignments teacher used his
hands, ...
"What if you cropped it here,
what if you cropped it there?"

Here's a different crop, as per Sammy.

Also, a little more centered, as per anthony.

Still has the 4 - 6 pairs...

;-)

There is a gob of dark branches just above their heads, I'd crop it just above. Maybe an eensty weensty bit off the left too.

this is a great shot...i love the composition and the b+w...awesome..i think the centering though is a little off..maybe if you would of stood a little bit more to your left it would have made it more centered, different angle. just my opinion..great shot either way

Ok Sammy, how come you can "see" the crops so well? I have a difficult time with that.

I'm looking at a crop, at your suggestion, leaving some of the branches over their heads...
I'll post it later.

;-)

Thank you Linda, for your most kind comment!
I have a hard time "seeing" shots of my kids...I think they are all just fine.
:)

I like it Kes.
Actually there is a lot there.

Try darkening the whole
upper right background,
or maybe crop off the top
so becomes square format.
