Hi Michael,
OK let me be honest. I did a trick with this pic. This pic was taken in midday when sun is almost on top. See the shadow of the flower behind? With early morning light (when fog can be expected) will have more elongated shadow :)
The original pic has blue cast. Thats a Sony white balance problem. In PS I created a white grad tranperency for for and did some color balace to remove the blue cast. I slightly enhanced yellow and green and reduced blue.

Good DOF, a lot of yellow due to the fog. I really like the preserved fog, interesting little bug on the lotus in the front.
Maybe try a color correction to see what happens when the yellow is moved out of the picture?

Hi Pat,
In fact the tricky part is the picture is taken at mid noon. There was no fod at all. It was my mischief with photoshop to produce this mist effect ;)
I guess I fully agree with you and can reduce the opacity of white gradient layer to bring more contrast to the flower.

You are right Pat. I also felt the same when I was post processing the picture in PS. Intact this picture is taken in noon time in a cloudy day. I like this type of composition where the front flower is in sharp focus and the one behind OOF. I have one such in my portfolio. But that was too dark. I wanted to give a mist effect with a gradient fill of shite to transperent layer and some grains. I guess I need to bring more contrast to front flower.

I understand the mist but my brain is still asking for more contrast. I supose then the mist would be lost... The composition is dead on!
