Very nice flower, with great colours and details/textures, Laurie. You did well to get this low angle. Simple yet effective composition.
I am finding that perhaps it is a bit on the under-exposed side, but maybe I just want to see more brightness.

Thanks Petal! I like the background as well--it looks more like an orchid in its natural environment this way. I've tried it before and for some reason this type of orchid just doesn't look right against a solid background.

Alastair, The scissors are still sharp, but I have retired the paper for a little while. It seems I?ve run out of ideas at the moment?I?m waiting for inspiration to strike! :)

Linda, Thank you for your kind comment. It always makes me so happy when someone likes one of my images enough to put it in their favorites. :)
The actual name of this is the Paphiopedilum Orchid, but it's commonly referred to as a lady slipper orchid. I think they are probably one of the most unusual and beautiful orchid species out there. They are also one of the easiest orchids to grow and take care of.

Beautiful Laurie, I absolutely love the medley of colors, they're stunning...this one is in my favorites...the slipper is wonderful, is that the true name or your name for this..I also see a slipper in the shadow...I can't get over how beautiful this is, and of course the background is gorgeous....a perfect dof, and a wonderful composition...outstanding work...:):)Linda
