Thanks Dwight! Photoshop CS2 is a great program. I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do. Selective coloring like this image is sooooo easy to do in CS2. Have fun with it! :)

This B&W background makes the bug stands out. My gosh look at those reflections from its wings. Well done!

Nicole, Thanks so much your offer to help me with PS! I think I'll take you up on it. :)
Do you know of any PS books that might be helpful and relatively easy to understand?

Philip, You pretty much have my setup correct. I had the 18-55mm lens mounted to the camera and then I help up the 50mm lens in reverse to it. There are coupler rings available that allow you to mount the lens in reverse to the other lens, but I was saving for a macro so I figured I could just do it by hand. It was a bit difficult b/c I had to make sure I didn't drop the lens and keep track of the ladybug!
This setup does give the effect of a macro lens, but there is heavy vignetting on the images so I had to crop a lot. This setup is often referred to as a "poor mans macro."
BTW, I noticed you got 2 awards today. Congratulations!!! :)

Very good job, love what you did here!!! Now the ladybug really 'jumps out at you'.... ;-D!!! This has the 'old timer feel' of colored in B&W pics, but then the other way around.... LOL!!!!

Pretty shot, for sure not easy to set up the most appropriate DOF, especially if the fellow was moving :)

very cool composition, i like the desaturation of the green leaf, and the detail on the lady bug, how it falls off and blurs to the outside, im a little perplexed at your ABOUT, you held up the 50mm in reverse to the 18 to 55mm, meaning you actually had the 18-55 mounted to the rebel, then took the standard non zoom 50mm and held it lens to lens on the 18-55mm which in a since gave you the macro effect???? curious cause i never thought anything like that would work, and any new techniques that you seemed to capture well are interesting to me... let me know
phil swanson great work with this technique!!!!

Linda, There may be an easier way to do this, but I used the replace color feature. I selected green and desaturated it. I worked pretty well. There's just a tiny area on the ladybug that got desaturated as well becuase of the reflection. I look forward to playing some more with photoshop.

Thanks Luca! I was surprised at the shine that came off of this ladybug. I was lucky to get this shot becuase it was a windy day and the ladybug liked to move around a lot! :)
