Hi Colin, Now I see why you thought my photo was yours :) It's very similar! I really like the macro of the little bug which adds to the photo. Well presented.

Your kind words mean a lot, alastair. People like you keep me inspired. This is a great site. which I only found by accident, when I was looking for a review on an old canon T70 I'd just bought!

Thanks again, appreciate it.

Beautiful shot Colin... Rich yellows and vivid whites combining to form a lovely textured tapestry. Catching the insect on there too was just a masterstroke.

Keep on with the photography, keep learning and developing (pardon the pun!) and the rewards are wonderful. See the world differently and look at the beauty around, everywhere, its all there to see if you look. I'm sorry to hear about your health problems but am glad the medical maestros have been able to return that which to photographers is most important - sight. Thanks for your kind words on my 'Relics' photo. I'm really pleased that you liked it and that it is so different from your childhood memories!

Looking forward to your next images!

Alastair

Dear Colin,
I had guessed that you had diabetes, but would not mention it before you did.
Although you can't add me to your friends' list, I added you to mine. Being a physiologist, it is not impossible that you might have an interest in psychoanalysis. I've written a book on the subject, called "Dialogues with Schizophrenia - the Art of Psychotherapy." Despite its name and despite being professionally valid, it was wtitten with the interested non mental-health professional also in mind. You might take a look at it on
www.drspringmann.com
on which site the important isssues to be paid attention to are Dr. Joyce Mc Dougall's preface (she is a leading figure in the psychoanalytic community) and the story of Adam, the first schizophranic patient whose psychotherapy is described in the book.
In case you would like to read it, please send an e mail to
rafael1930@bezeqint.net
with "usefilm, your book" in the subject line and I'll gladly send you the book (1.02 MB) at no cost to you. Quite a few Usefilm friends have received the book from me in this manner and so far there have been no complaints.
Best regards,
Rafi

Thanks ann. Other than crop, I wanted to show this one in it's natural state. I liked it because it came out well, considering the focussing limitations of the little canon snapper. I just can't get the detail of a DSLR.

I love the hexagonal spirals. It's spring/early summer here and the wild flowers are at their best.

Like you say, this one could be manipulated in so many ways, but I've so many other images to show (old and new). I'm taking digital photos of some early photos (1970's - 80's) I may return to it though.

Of course you should keep going. That is the only way to learn. Just remember we all started somewhere and whilst it takes longer for some people to reach their goal...others are a little quicker.

As for the sleep...what's that!! Can you send me some please, so I can see what it looks like. LOL!! Actually it is only 9-21pm right now.

Great pic, Colin. Excellent detail and colour. Just a suggestion, but have you tried it cropped to just the top half of the flower in a panorama format? It looks great now, but there are so many different looks you could create with this one picture. Cheers, Ann.

Judi,Your praise always charges my spiritual batteries! Especially, the day after the solstice.
I've only been here a week but if feels like forever!

Never met such friendly internet communications as on this site.

Might inspire me to keep going with the photos.
Trouble is, the images on this site are so good, the quality so consistently high, that I can't get anything else done!

Colin

p.s. Do you get time for some sleep? You seem to be commenting when it must be early a.m your time.

This is beautiful...so well captured. I thought I had already commented on this one, but apparently not. So thankyou Colin for adding me to your friends list...I hope to be able to see more of your work now.

Thanks for you kind concern, rafael, you must have been a caring doctor.
I've been under the care of eye and diabetes specialists for years! Plus, as a former physiologist, I'm aware of certain dangers - and try to avoid them.

Pleased to hear that your son beat his own health problem.

kind regards

Colin

p.s. can't add you to friend's, as I've got the full 3!

It's dangerous to intervene from afar, but you might ask you Dr. if you need some thrombolythic therapy. Also if the prevention of further thrombi is not indicated. (Aspirin)
(I'm a Dr. albeit a psychiatrist, but still in touch with general medicine.)
Best regards,
Rafi

Much appreciated soul 21!

This is very gratifying, as my little canon wasn't up to the standards of all your pro digital machines. (What I couldn't do with one of those!!)

Dopo l'esame del vostro porfolio, l'elogio da voi è elogio effettivamente! Ho alcune immagini magiche dalla mia chiamata in Liguria da upload presto! Come amo il vostro paese!

That's greatly appreciated, Rafael. Yes my vision being returned was phenomenal. I'm still a little bit high from it 5 years on! My good eye is still ok, but have some thrombosis there, so making the most of my new zeal for imagery with newly-found usefilm.com.

As a fellow photographer, I think you know what I mean.

I'm convinced there are reasons for this, somewhere.

I just read your bio and I think that for a person for whom vision is so important, the temporary semi-blindness must have been a terrible time. I can fully empathize with your relief when sight was restored in one of your eyes, even though my eyesight was always good, notwithstanding my age, past 75, going on 76.
Best regards,
Rafi Springmann
